Kevin and Fióna are both qualified educators with extensive teaching experience and can deliver the following workshops:
– improvisation for non-musicians;
– traditional Irish tunes, repertoire and group playing on any instrument;
– developing repertoire & technique for whistle, flute, fiddle.
Kevin teaches fiddle classes at BelfastTrad, his classes are aimed primarily at adult learners and focus on developing general musicianship, fiddle technique and traditional repertoire. He is a lecturer at the Belfast Metropolitan College and teaches studio techniques and digital music to school leavers. He also delivers tutorials to undergraduate performance students at Queen’s University Belfast.
Fióna teaches whistle classes for young children and young adults at BelfastTrad community arts group. Her teaching experiences also include teaching science at Irish-medium secondary schools and teaching electronic engineering at Xidian University in China. She loves to make difficult and challenging topics and skills accessible for all learners.
